Candidate Bio: Kory Nelson

Kory Nelson has been a resident of Parker for 15 years, Douglas County for 21 years, and Colorado for 33 years. He has been a licensed Colorado attorney, and a prosecutor for the City & County of Denver, for 33 years. Kory graduated from the Sandra Day-O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University - a top-25 law school. Right out of law school, Kory worked for the Natural Resources & Environment Division of the Colorado Attorney General’s Office. Kory graduated from the Parker Police Department’s Citizen’s Academy and the Town of Parker’s Citizen’s Academy. Kory served on the School Accountability Committee for Legend High School for 5 years. The Douglas County Sheriff appointed Kory to the Public Safety Advisory Committee, where he served for several years, including as Chair. The Douglas County Commissioners appointed Kory to their Physical School Safety Advisory Committee after the STEM School shooting, advising them on spending funds for school safety. Kory is a U.S. Army Cold War Veteran, having served in West Berlin, Germany, and Ft. Huachuca, Arizona. His wife, Kim, is a literacy specialist with the Douglas County School District. Kory and Kim Nelson have one daughter, Alyssa, who graduated from Legend High School in 2020, currently studying biology at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
