As graywater systems (systems that reuse water from showers, sinks, and washing machines for irrigation or toilet flushing) become more popular, we want to remind our customers that installing a graywater system in your home is prohibited by Parker Water & Sanitation District.
This is because graywater has the potential to carry human pathogens with various risk levels and can be hazardous to public health.
Regulation 86 of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CHPHE) states that graywater systems may only be installed and operated within the jurisdiction of a local Graywater Control Program. PWSD does not have such a program.
Violation of this regulation can result in termination of water service until the system is removed.
